Well, its been 2 years.
Tuesday, July 12, 2011I can’t believe that I haven’t blogged for “almost” 2 years. What have I been up to?
The end of 2009 was hectic. I was painting everyday to keep up with my etsy shop ( i think i did like, 5 sneakers a day) and at the same time, we were planning our travel to London to join my husband. Then, there was my sister Mariel’s wedding and my cousin Embo visiting from Australia. Well, we had to make the best out of the last few weeks we’ll be spending with our family. Having said that, I am glad we were able to.
When we finally got here in the UK, we took our time to settle, and I was overwhelmed with tons of things to do. Apart from needing to continue with the painting bit, I had to register Therion to the doctor’s/dentist, update his immunization, look for a nursery, go to routine check ups.. I found out that mums here really have their work cut out for them. Unlike in the Philippines we’re most mums practically raise their children with family/relatives, here it’s entirely different. I do not want to go into detail , but to cut it short, I had to take a break from painting
It was great to finally spend time together as a family; I am grateful that we had the opportunity to settle into a place where I know we can raise our son the best way we can. Alan took us to see places, he hasn’t been to before because he was waiting to share it with Therion and I. An added bonus was seeing Alan’s siblings and Therion being able to spend time with his cousins. We maybe living at both ends of London (being us at the West part and them in the East), but we do make a point to see them as much as we can. Besides, Therion loves train rides.
I spent time learning how to cook “better” and bake. Alan encouraged my interest in photography as well. At Therion’s nursery, I hang out with the kids and I was known as the “lady who makes cool things”. I was a regular at the arts and crafts table. A little girl thought I was a teacher and that I live in the nursery. :p The head teacher once told me that I should consider working at a school setting.. we’ll see.
Fast forward to the present day; its Therion’s last week in nursery school and he is going to a “big school” this September. He’s going to spend most of the day there (9am-3pm), so I will find more time to do things for myself. time but I can’t say that I won’t miss being with my little boy wonder. I’d probably get very lonely the first few days… but, I am excited to get the “me” time so I will be taking out the paint bottles one by one and set up shop once again.
